"Nothing Else Matters" --Scala & Kolacny Brothers (originally by Metallica)
Here's a choir cover of "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica. It was on the Zero Dark Thirty trailer and caught my ear. This is the song (not this version, but the original) that my husband and I danced to at our wedding :)
(and probably as I'll say almost every day for the rest of this challenge), they are all great. Yes, some of the movies were better than others, but as a whole, it was a great series.
But there was something special about this one. Not only was the movie amazing (making me cry a total of 6 times throughout) but it was special because of the people I saw it with.
For everyone who doesn't know, I used to live in a small (ish) town in Washington state, until I got married and moved all the way across the country to Virginia, leaving most of my friends and family behind.
This movie came out about 5 weeks before I moved.
My friends (remember Kelsie?) and I decided that we had to go for the midnight release (something I haven't dared to do since the Twilight fiasco). Which was crazy, because it seemed that everyone else we went to high school with decided to too. When we got into the theater, almost every single face was a familiar one.
I don't know, but for some reason that was kind of awesome to me. We all grew up reading the books, and it was kind of poetic that everyone gathered for the last chapter. We laughed together, cried together, and cheered together. We truly are the Harry Potter generation.
When I was driving home (at 2:30am) from the theater, I could feel my childhood end, and I was happy and sad all at the same time.
for some reason this one grabbed me more so than the others. There's so many new things going on and it's close enough to the end of the series so that shit is getting REAL. **MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS** I was in a Leadership Development Program at the YMCA that summer, so I was up in the woods when this one was released. I was so bummed. But when I came home for the weekend I found a copy on my pillow. My dad had gotten it for me :) I had the thing done before I even got back to camp that next Sunday afternoon.
I was so amazed and intrigued and pissed that I had to wait for the next book. I honestly didn't believe that Dumbledore was really dead. And if he was, I KNEW that Snape did it for a reason (a good reason, not a death eater reason). I knew that Snape was a good guy from book 1. Don't worry, I'm sure I'll be going on a long, long (hopefully not too long ;) rant about that on Wednesday (Day 3). AND WE FINALLY FIND OUT THAT RON AND HERMIONE LIKE EACH OTHER. I mean, we all knew but it was never confirmed before this book. That made me happy :)
But yeah, I could go on and on, but long story short, my answer for day one is
I thought I would just pop in with something fun for all my Potterheads out there! My friend Alyssa sent me a link the other day for a 60 Day Harry Potter Challenge (thanks again my love;) The only problem was that not all the questions were strictly related to the books and movies of JK Rowling's Wizarding World. There were a lot of questions about A Very Potter Musical, which I have not seen and I don't know if I will (let's get real: I'll see it, but there's a big chance I won't like it) But I still really liked the idea, so I made my own :)
Instead of 60 days it's only 20, which I think is nice. It doesn't matter how much I enjoy doing a 30 day challenge (or however many days), toward the end it gets MUCH easier to miss days and then I'm sad :(
So, twenty days, twenty Potter questions. I'll be posting my answers here as well as on Facebook starting tomorrow :) And I hope you will too!
I don't know what I enjoy more, the song, or the video :) My husband is OBSESSED with this one, I swear he listens to it on a loop (and then gives ME crap because I've watched all the seasons of How I Met Your Mother like 5 times...men, right?)
I hope you like it and that you have a great tuesday :)
no... not the myocardial infarction! why would you think that?!
basically, it's a box full of paper hearts. It's just sort of a fun and festive way to celebrate cupid's favorite holiday (and cheap, did I mention cheap?)
You Will Need:
- pink card stock (red would work too)
- white card stock
- a pencil
- a permanent marker
- scissors
- a small box (not pictured)
- a recipient! your mom, your aunt, a friend, ect. (probably not the best gift for your girlfriends and wives boys...)
Step 1:
You need to make your hearts. Take a piece of white card stock (I just used a piece of poster board) and fold it in half. Use a fish hook shaped cut, just like when you were a kid. Cut out different shapes and sizes so your box won't be boring.
Step 2:
Use the white hearts you just cut out as stencils for the pink card stock (again, poster board). **If you want, you can just skip making the white hearts and use the pink for step 1. I chose to do it this way so the pink hearts would lie flat**
Step 3:
Using the pencil, trace the hearts onto the poster board. To save paper, rotate the hearts and position them so they take up less room on the paper (it's hard to describe in words, but you can see it in the picture). Trace out a fair amount of hearts, I don't think you can really have too many in this project.
Step 4:
Once you have all the hearts traced, cut them out. Make sure to cut close enough to get rid of the pencil marks
Step 5:
Make a different colored heart (I used white) and write a message for the recipient. Some people choose to write something on ALL the hearts, but ain't nobody got time for that.
Step 6:
Put all (except for 5) the hearts in a box and tape it shut. Decorate the box with the remaining hearts. **please excuse the mangled box**
Step 7:
Use the permanent market to address the box. I sent this inside an even bigger box,
so I didn't address it for postage (though you TOTALLY should)
I also added instructions: "open, dump, enjoy" That should insure a wonderful mess :)
And BAM, present complete.
And that is how you make a Heart Attack! I'm sure you could've figured it out on your own, but I'm here just in case :)
I absolutely LOVE Bruno, just in case I haven't shared that with you yet. This is a song from his new album "Unorthodox Jukebox". It's not my favorite from the album, but I like it :) It's mellow and pretty, and the video is a total throwback and is awesome.
though that would have been the only good excuse for
why I haven't posted in such a long time.
To be completely honest, I haven't really had much to post about :( October wasn't a very crafty month for me and then I did some traveling and then the holidays hit and...yeah... it was chaos.
BUT I have really missed posting, and I'm hoping (hoping, hoping!)
to start posting on a regular basis again.
So this week I am starting something new
(not really new, but let's just pretend;) Every Tuesday, we're going to have Tunesday. What is Tunesday you ask? I'm going to start posting a song (or two) every Tuesday. Kind of like what "Ear Candy" used to be, but weekly.
And hopefully that will get me back into the flow of posting again. Soon I'll be back to the tutorials and the reviews and everything I used to do, maybe even more :)
And, if for any reason I'm busy or on a crafting hiatus,
at least you'll have a new song every week :)
So... guess who else is back? FALL OUT BOY!
"My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark (Light Em Up)" by Fall Out Boy
They are back from their hiatus and are releasing a new album! I'm SO EXCITED! Kelsie (you remember Kelsie right?)
and I went to their last tour and I cannot wait to go to this one :D
Well I'm off for now, hopefully I see (not really...but you get it)
