Day 1: The Boondock Saints Drinking Game

Since I've moved to Virginia, my friends and I have started celebrating St. Paddy's Day properly (probably due to the fact that I turned 21 a month after I got here ;) We do a lot of different things, but there's one tradition that we know we can never skip:

The Boondock Saints Drinking Game

The Boondock Saints is one of my all time favorite movies.
(yes, I do have a few other favorites, but this one's legit.)

So it should be no surprise that this is a cannot miss St. Paddy's Day custom.
Care to join the fun?
Awesome :)

There are two ways to play, the complicated way and the straight forward way.

The complicated way:

Drink every time:
Conor and Murphy do something in unison.
Someone starts speaking a different language.
Someone gets shot (and dies).
Smecker says something shitty.

Waterfall when:
Conor and Murphy recite the family prayer.

Smecker listens to his classical music.

Finish your drink for:
"THERE WAS A FIRE FIGHT!"
Smecker in drag.

The straight forward way:
Drink every time they say "fuck". That's all.
(This is how my friends and I play ;)

It may not be the classiest of drinking games, but shit it's fun :)
AND the movie's available instantly on Netflix, so all you need is booze!

See you tomorrow!

7 Days of Booze: Introduction

Hello everyone :)
In the spirit of St. Patrick's Day, I've decided to do a little post series about one the holiday's most important traditions: alcohol.

Over the next 7 days I'll post recipes, games, fun facts and other miscellaneous things about the hard stuff, just in time for the festivities :)

See you tomorrow:)

**PLEASE drink responsibly and NEVER EVER drink and drive.**

Tunesday: Payphone Cover

hey guyssss ;)

I just got a new microphone for my computer so I finally got around to recording a new cover :)
I decided on "Payphone" by Maroon5, a song I've been practicing for a while.
It's nothing special, but it was still really fun to do and I hope you enjoy it :)

See you soon :)

30 Day Photo Challenge: The Bucket

Day 30:
a picture of the most important thing on your bucket list

Sadly, this is kind of an anti-climatic end to our 30 Day Challenge, considering I've already talked about the most important things on my bucket list. But the greatest one by far is writing a book.

I have so many stories in my head.
Seriously, my brain is full of characters and plot twists and random dialogue.

At this point it's really just a matter of getting them on paper.
But if this challenge has done anything, it's lit a fire under me to actually get on it.

It's so easy to procrastinate with something like this.
There are so many deadlines in life, so many responsibilities that we owe to other people.
Our families, our bosses, our friends, it feels like everything is always in demand.
So the things that we do for ourselves are usually put on the back burner and saved until "we have the time".
But guess what? You will NEVER have the time if you don't make the time.
We always think that we're working for something, some sort of time when things will make sense and we'll have all this time to do whatever we want.
(And then we realize that that's what retirement is all about;)

If I keep waiting for "spare time", I'll never finish a book.
So, here it goes... as of today I'm going to make a point of working on my story at least once a day, even if it's just a paragraph or two. It may not be great, but it's better than what I'm doing now.
Wish me luck ;)

Honorable Mentions:
Seeing the Northern Lights.
Petting a manatee.
Owning a successful bakery.
Master the guitar.
Travel through time. (only kind of kidding o,O)

What's #1 on your bucket list?

See you later :)

30 Day Photo Challenge: Nostalgia

Day 29:
a picture of your favorite picture from high school

Another impossible question.
How am I supposed to pick a favorite picture from high school?
Unlike so many others, I LOVED high school.
Not in a "I'm so popular and loved by everyone, it only goes down from here" sort of way (which is sadly a real thing), but in a "life is never going to be this fun and simple again" sort of way.
I was fortunate enough to not have to deal with too many bullies or rumors, with very limited teenage heartache.

High school was a time when I got to see my best friends every day, a time when I didn't have any real responsibility. Not to mention the fact that we were allowed to act ridiculous because we were just "acting our age" ;) It was awesome, how could I pinpoint a favorite memory?

Luckily, my computer's lack of photos / living so far away from home (meaning I don't have access to my old photo albums or computer files), it made my decision a lot easier. Even luckier, this picture really was one of my favorite high school memories.

Above is (left to right) Christian, Kelli, Kevin and me (aka my choir crew ;) on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. We were singing at a competition and got to spend a few days taking in the sights.

We went to Alcatraz, the Windchester Mystery House, checked out a few of the piers and rode one of the cable cars :) It was one of my favorite trips by far, mostly thanks to my awesome tour buddy. Kevin still lives in WA so I never get to see him, but we rocked choir together and were really good friends before I moved.
Miss that guy :/

See you later :)

30 Day Photo Challenge: Songs Songs Songs

Day 29:
a picture of your favorite song

It's kind of tough to take a picture of a song.
It's tough to PICK a favorite song in the first place.

You've got your songs with the perfect melody, your songs with lyrics that make you feel like someone is stealing your thoughts, and songs that you hate that you love.

We love some songs for a few weeks, others for a few years and some that we love forever.
There are different genres, tones and moods, how the hell was I supposed to pick?

I wracked my brains for days; I even asked Alyssa for help.

Moments after I sent the message, I thought about the Moulin Rouge version of "Your Song", literally seconds before she messaged me with the same thing. She just gets me ;)

But then I started thinking about "Come What May", or the wonderful "Elephant Love Medley", and that one breath taking moment when Ewan McGregor sings about the hills being alive with music.

^^Skip to 00:28, this is the only video I could find of it, the rest of it is in Spanish :/

So, I've decided just to choose the entire Moulin Rouge soundtrack.
Alyssa and I watched it together when we were in Junior High (well, she showed it to me) and I fell in love.
With Baz, with the music, with the characters, with everything.
The movie was beautifully done, and even now (roughly 100 viewings later) it still gives me goosebumps.

And one of the great things about Moulin Rouge is even though it's a musical, all of it's music is generic enough (and mostly covers) to be enjoyed even outside of the movie.

But yeah. It's love<3

See you laterrr ;)

30 Day Photo Challenge: Bookie Book

Day 27:
a picture of the book you're reading right now

Sorry this is a couple days late ladies and gents,
especially since I don't have a good reason why :S

The book I'm currently reading is the life story of one Bruce Campbell, my man crush from Day 3.
Bryan got it for me for Christmas this last year ;)
I've only just started so I'm still reading about his early childhood, but I can already tell that it's going to be a great read.
Best part, I can totally hear his voice in my head when I'm reading ;)

I actually made a B&N run today and got a few other books that I'm hoping to read over the next few months. I got Dracula, Frankenstein and The Interpretation of Dreams.
Decided I haven't read enough classics ;)

What are you reading?

See you tomorrow!
